THREE LITTLE PEAS STORY
A family made adventure...led by our values
To keep in line with my values, I make sure that our fabric is ecologically friendly and all my packaging is recyclable cardboard & paper. My husband & I have made the decision to try and eliminate the use of plastic in our life and to use & source ( in as much as possible) products & foods that respect nature & people.
For Three Little Peas Clothing this means:
1- My fabrics are made with environmentally friendly dyes (Oeko-Tex certified).
2- Many of our fabrics are organic and GOTS Certified (Global Organic Textile Standard, a fair-trade certification).
3- Our packaging is from cardboard & paper only (no plastics) and is recyclable.
Hi,
I am Carrie, the proud owner / seamstress and mother to Three Little Peas. This is the story of how our little company started...
At the age of 15, my Nanna won a sewing machine in a competition which my parents bought from her for my Christmas gift that year.
I discovered sewing & loved it.
Years later after giving birth to my three children, I found that I truly enjoyed dressing them in unique, colourful, comfortable, unisex clothing, which at times was hard to come across in the high street.
So I invested in a modern sewing machine that allowed me to put in practice more complicated techniques, took sewing lessons and practiced patterns over and over, working on new details until I got them right to a tee.
That's when I first started making clothes for my three little peas.
Eventually they were able to choose their own fabrics and I started making a wider range of items, making trousers, dresses, jumpers, rompers, etc...in which they could crouch-in comfortably, run & jump with, and climb in total comfort.
The pride of having ethically handmade clothing, using the fabric of my choice, unique fabrics that suit their personalities means they love wearing their clothes.
Over time people started asking about my children's clothes, and overwhelming comments from friends and family gave me the confidence to start making clothes for others, and eventually selling them to friends.
Positive feedback and more requests came-in, which is when I decided to set up Three Little Peas Clothing with my husband so I could make others benefit from fun & unique custom handmade clothing.
'Family' is truly at the heart of this adventure. My Nanna, Parents, Husband & Children, and my Friends support all have made this possible and still make it possible.
Work & fun continues as I keep on learning, taking lessons, practicing new patterns and trying new items. My children test most of the patterns and they all go through Tom's essential 'Stretch Test'.
Thank you & I hope you enjoy wearing these clothes as much as I enjoy making them.
Carrie
